The Space Between Us
This series explores the space between us through the juxtaposition of images of children whose lives and experiences are radically different based on seemingly random variables such as geographic location, socio-economic status, political environment, cultural norms, family structure, and more.
Speaking both locally and globally, there is tremendous disparity in the life experiences of children. What better measure of the compassion of a culture than its attention to and concern for its most vulnerable citizens? By using selective color and the veiling properties of mylar, the experiences of abundance and deprivation are represented simultaneously with each influencing our reading of the other.
Somewhere in the space between us, when one suffers, we all suffer.
